An ultra zooming photo has found its way across all media platforms and has been shocking, fearful to some, and fun for many others. The stunning photo is one of Shanghai from the Oriental Pearl Tower and was taken by Jinkun Tech (of Bigpixel Studio). To see the image for yourself you can access it at BigPixel Studios website.
For reference, an average smartphone takes pictures that are 12-megapixels (12 million pixels) and the image of Shanghai is 195 gigapixels (195 billion pixels). I tried to find facial expressions in the photo, as the picture had been broadcasted as being clear enough to “see individual facial expressions”. I was surprised to find that you could see facial expressions of all sorts. The image represents people from all walks of life, performing their normal daily routine.
The photo was created using image stitching technology. If you guessed this was putting a bunch of pictures together that have overlapping portions to make one high-resolution panorama, you would be right. The high resolution panorama is the world’s third-largest photo and Asia’s largest photo.
