A Story That Takes You Back.
Rockstar Games let a new one out of the bag: Red Dead Redemption 2. Despite the name, the game is in fact a prequel, taking place 12 years before the first Red Dead Redemption game. The protagonist of the first game, John Marston, is a member of the Van der Linde gang that travels throughout the countryside causing havoc. Arthur Morgan, the “hero” of the new Red Dead Redemption, is in the same gang as John Marston and acts as the debt collector for the gang. Dutch, the head of the Van der Linde gang, eventually makes Arthur Morgan his right-hand man.
Throughout the game you can only play as Arthur Morgan and the plot focuses mostly on learning each of the gang members stories and staying on the prod to make a heap of loot. You get to see the entire posse, John Marston included, at their highest prestige and infamy. After a robbery in Blackwater, the gang must skedaddle out of town. Trouble starts to brew within the gang while they are “on the lamb”. With all the problems in the woodworks, will the gang be able to outlast their enemies? As Arthur, you must choose between your own ideals and the gang who raised you. How will Arthur and John react to the gang splitting up? Will they each go their separate ways?
Red Dead Redemption 2 is being released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26th, 2018. The price will depend on what version you choose, as there are three versions of the game: Standard, Special, and Ultimate. You can also round up some extra merchandise that’ll be appreciated whether you’re just getting started with the outlaws or you’re an experienced rider.
Are You Standard, Special, Or Ultimate?
The Standard edition of the game is only $59.99 at local retailers. Special Edition is $79.99 and provides you with an extra mission and hideout, a Dappled Black Thoroughbred horse, a Talisman and Medallion gameplay bonus, the Nuevo Paraiso Gunslinger Outfit, free access to additional weapons, and other gameplay boosts, cash bonuses, and discounts. The Ultimate edition of the game is being offered for $99.99 and provides all the extras of the Special edition game plus more. With the Ultimate edition, there are two more outfits, online rank bonuses, a Black Chestnut Thoroughbred, free access to the Survivor Camp Theme, and free access to three weapons at the Gunsmiths in Story Mode.
What’s the Difference Between The Two?
One major difference between Red Dead Redemption and its partner in crime is Red Dead Redemption 2 now includes specific and unique temperaments for the different horses within the game. Now you will have to watch out for those bucking broncos. You also can affect the relationships between gang members. Rockstar has promised even better graphics and improved shooting mechanics, including gun-specific recoil.
