Tru Kids Brands, the new owners of Toys ‘R’ Us, announced on Thursday that the once-popular retailer will be reborn. The return comes more than a year after the chain went bankrupt, resulting in the closure of all 700 of its American stores.

According to the owners, the stores will be a "highly engaging retail experience designed for kids, families, and to better fit within today’s retail environment.”

Set to open before the busy holiday shopping season, one of the new stores will be located at The Galleria in Houston, Texas, while the other will open at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey. Though they will still be selling toys, the stores will be stocked with fewer than before. The new places will feature an interactive, playground-like environment that the owners believe will be much better than the previous store layouts.

Tru Kids Brands bought Toys ‘R‘ Us in October of 2018, and is planning to open more stores in “prime, high-traffic retail markets” as early as next year. Toys ‘R’ Us still has 900 stores open in Europe, Asia, and India, with plans to open another 70 overseas by the end of this year.
